Motown got like 4in or so of snow last night. So I just went out to clear the snow of my parent's Civic even though I didn't plan on going anywhere around campus. Two other students walked up to there older Subaru Outback, used the wipers a few times, and drove off. They didn't even clear the other windows off at all, let alone the rest of the car. Now they don't need to be as anal as I was about getting every last bit off, but why must my fellow young citizens be so clueless?

Whats wrong with that? Wipers clear windshield so you can see and then the airflow from driving clears the rest off. I do this all the time

It's the lessons the corporate world taught them through their parents. Do what you want, it's only a bad thing if it causes problems to others...and if they get caught. So, If they carve a tank slit in the front window and that's it, then happy day!

for the record, ive done the tank commander thing just for shits and giggles before, but eventually cleared the wshiled out of frustration and safety concerns.

Ah - awareness sucks, does it not? Watching people do marginally dumb things, generally pulling it off, but knowing that if anything goes wrong it's gonna hurt?
There's only one thing to do. Do it right, for yourself, by your *own* standards. Don't try to tell anyone else what's right or wrong or otherwise, because they can't hear. No use 'casting pearls for swine' as the saying goes.
By taking care of the edge events, problematically speaking your gonna come out ahead. Maybe not immediately , but eventually (which may include a generation beyond you and not your immediate generation.) It's Evolution In Action, and by god, we've got examples of it happening every dang day.

I speak from experience when I say driving a buttoned-up T-34 is easier (I have awesome friends). And that's including the gearshift that frequently requires a hammer to knock into third.
